Summer Learning Journey Activity #6: Weird and Wonderful

For this activity I had to solve this maths question: Let’s imagine that you are given a cactus for your birthday. To keep it alive, you must give it 3 ml of water every day.
Over one full year, how much water will you need to give your cactus plant? The Answer Is: 1095 ml
I solved it out by doing 3 x how many days of the year which is 365.
3 x 365 = 1095.

  1. Hi Mary

You are right with your answer for this activity. Three mils of water a day is not a lot of water but when you add it up over the whole entire year it comes to quite a lot.
Remember to always be able to show your working out. It is always good to be able to show exactly how you worked it out and what method you used.
Do you have a favourite subject at school? Is it maths?

I hope that you are having a great holiday so far and that you have something fun planned with your family. It is a great day today and would be a good day for swimming as it is really warm.

    Keep up the great work!

    Until next time

    Allie :)
